Malaga airport ranks third among Spanish airports receiving low cost flights, with 2.8 million passengers coming from such flights during the last 8 months.
Spanish airports with highest numbers of low cost passengers are Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona-El Prat. Behind are situated Malaga airport, Alicante and Madrid-Barajas.
Great Britain and Germany remain the main markets of this kind of low cost companies with respectively 36.5% and 19.9% of passengers who chose this means of transport to the most popular holiday destinations in Spain.
Low cost passengers grew by 9.3% at Malaga Airport – Costa del Sol
Low cost airlines carried 25.1 million passengers at Spanish airports for the first eight months of the year, 14.4 percent more than the same period of 2010, compared to traditional companies, which moved 18.7 million passengers, 8.3 percent more.
Among the airports that have more movement of passengers from low cost carriers are Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona and Malaga airport – Costa del Sol in third place.
Leading markets with the largest numbers of low cost passengers are in first place the UK followed by Germany and Italy.
