Volotea, the low cost airline, begin their operations in Malaga today
The first flight of the new low cost airline, Volotea, will be departing from Malaga airport at half past seven this evening. The destination is the Italian city of Venice, a route that until now was not possible directly. The communication and Institutional relations manager, Alfons Claver, presented the company’s project at Malaga airport, from where they’ll be flying, as from June, to Asturias, Zaragoza and Bordeaux. “We are very happy with the response we have received in Malaga. Out of the one hundred tickets we have sold since the 2nd of March, six thousand of them were to fly from this airport. We are very satisfied”, he assured. Continue reading
65% of the German passengers arrive aboard low-cost airlines
The taxes of German passengers that arrived in Spain aboard low-cost airlines increased in 2011 by 5.3%
Two out of three German passengers that arrived in Spain in 2011, came aboard a low-cost airline, which means around 65% of the total, a figure vastly surpassed in priority destinations for the German market like the Costa del sol for example, where the figure increases up to 82%. Continue reading

Malaga airport on the verge of 4 million passengers on low cost airlines
The low cost airlines transported 36.1 million passengers around the Spanish airports during 2011, 12.5% more than the previous year, in comparison to the traditional companies that transported 27.3 million travellers, only 7.7% more, according to the figures provided yesterday by the Tourism Studies Institute, a branch of the Industrial, Tourism and Trade Ministry. Malaga airport registered 3.9 million passengers and a 6.6% increase, and is ranked as the third airport in Spain with the highest number of these type of passengers, after Palma de Mallorca (6.1 million passengers, 11%) and Barcelona (5.3 million, 36.2%). Helitt will be opening at Malaga airport on the 21st of November with a flight to Melilla
The airline, based in Malaga, are starting the engines of their first three airplanes and launching several advertising campaigns to capture clients for their new routes. The president of the company, Abel Pizarro, announced the flight plans yesterday, that in Malaga’s case, the first destination will be Melilla. The airline opening will be at Malaga airport on the 21st of November, where they will operate twice a day as from the 22nd of November, one in the morning and one in the afternoon or early evening, with plans to leave and return on the same day. This connection will coincide with the opening flight of the company and the offer directed to agencies and wholesalers on that day. “Helitt will operate two flights from Malaga to the autonomous city, one leaving at 7:20 am and arriving at 8:10 am, and on the return flight, leaving at 5:35 pm and arriving at Malaga airport at 6:10 pm. This way we offer availability on working hours to entrepreneurs and residents that travel between both cities for professional purposes”, said the company’s president yesterday. Continue reading

Ryanair could charge for printing out boarding pass
Barcelona’s provincial court has endorsed Ryanair‘s plan to charge the passenger 40 euros to print out the boarding pass at the airport and their obligation to check-in online, according to the sentence dictated on the past 5th of October, of which Europa Press had access to.
