Helitt Airlines will be starting their activity this Monday with the opening flight that will link Malaga with Melilla and that will mean the christening of this Malaga airport based company, whose main aim is to reinvent the low cost flights.
The company has invested around 30 million Euros and is starting off with a team of 70 employees, that they hope to increase; and three airplanes with a capacity of 66 passengers although there is room for more people but they have chosen to offer the clients more comfort.
According to the information provided to Europa Press by sources of the company, they will be starting off with one flight a day between Malaga and Melilla, from Sunday to Friday. They will also be offering three other routes between Melilla-Barcelona, Melilla-Madrid and Barcelona-San Sebastian.
The company’s first commercial flight will take place this Monday, designated with the figures H9 as the IATA code. The plane, an ATR72, will depart Malaga-Costa del sol airport at 12:00 and will arrive at Melilla at 12:40. The return flight back to Malaga from Melilla will leave at 17:35.
With this first flight, the idea that the Andalusian entrepreneur Jose Pizarro had only 24 months ago, becomes a reality, they told Europa Press, where they added that this flight will be reserved exclusively for institutional representatives, entrepreneurs and travel wholesalers. The president of the company, Abel Pizarro, will also be on board together with other directors.
The end of the monopoly
The first landing in Melilla will mean, according to Helitt, “the end of the monopoly that has existed for many years in air transport between Melilla and the main Spanish capital cities”.
This airline will increase the number of passengers to and from Melilla, including both the ones that travel for professional reasons and those that travel just for pleasure and tourism.
The flight H9132 will leave Malaga airport at 07:30 from Monday to Friday and the flight H9172 will leave at 11:20 on Sundays. The departure at Melilla will take place at 17:35 from Sunday to Friday. The price starts from 25 Euros for Melilla residents, air taxes not included.
