If you want to go from Malaga airport to Mijas, take the AP-7 motorway towards Algeciras. The distance to travel is about 38 kilometres if you go to La Cala de Mijas and 25 kilometers to reach Mijas town, which is equivalent to about 20 or 30 minutes by car.
Mijas is an important tourist destination all year round, a multicultural municipality located between the towns of Marbella and Fuengirola that attracts thousands of visitors every year. Mijas town is a typical white Andalusian village with white houses and museums, a location that reigns over an impressive view of the coast. If you decide to go by car you should take the A-7 motorway as if you want to get to Algeciras, in the picture above it shows the sign that you will find shortly after leaving the airport and joining the main road.
The highway allows a maximum speed of 120 km/h until its exit to Mijas. During the trip you will find a rest area with petrol station in case you need it. You will find the exit to Mijas and Fuengirola shortly after passing the exit to Benalmadena Pueblo.
There is no direct bus from Malaga airport to Mijas. In any case you could take the A Express Line that goes to the centre of Malaga and from there take the bus to Mijas.

There is currently no train service from Malaga airport to Mijas. You can, however, take the train from Malaga airport to the city, Torremolinos, Benalmadena or Fuengirola to connect with a bus to Mijas.
